A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet

Uncategorized

When Shakespeare wrote this famous line in Romeo & Juliet, he was saying that the names of things do not matter, only what things are. Though this is valid argument when it comes to forbidden love, it doesn’t work so much when branding your business. Here are a couple tips I want to share for those looking to start their own business and figuring out a name: #1 – Make sure no one already has the name. Google it and check with the US Trademark & Patent Office. You can do a free search here: http://patft.uspto.gov/. Don’t forget to check on Facebook and Twitter. Whether you like it or not, social media is an important marketing tool for starting a small business venture. #2 -Check that the web domain is available. Assuming it is, purchase it through a company like Go Daddy. It costs less than $20 and even if you don’t plan on launching your site tomorrow, you will launch it eventually. It’s imperative you have “yourcompanyname.com”. Once I went through this process and tweaked every inch of my logo, it was time to design and print business cards. Thanks to Ryan of Rise and Shine Paper for their letterpress printing skills! The goal is to officially open the etsy store before the holiday season, so I wanted to have these ready to go once it has launched.

Looking for a logo and/or business card custom design? I’d love to hear from you. You can find my email address in the photo above!
