Kiley + Matt | Rustic Woodland Malibou Lake Wedding

So many words come to mind when I think of Kiley + Matt’s December wedding at The Lodge at Malibou Lake.

Boho, romantic, rustic, playful + elegant may seem like a lot of styles to incorporate into one wedding, but with Anything But Gray Events leading the way, the whole wedding was thoughtfully + beautifully executed. (It helped that Kiley was such a sweet bride and would repeatedly say, “I trust you and your vision!”)

Kiley + Matt got married in December in Agoura Hills, with beautiful views of the Santa Monica Mountains. The Malibou Lake Lodge is one of my favorite Los Angeles wedding venues because not only is their outdoor space so naturally beautiful, but the indoor reception area has great details (including the lovely fireplace). And that bridal suite? Such a dream space for a photo-op! The venue was the perfect place to hold their LA winter wedding, which featured bright red florals, greenery, velvet bridesmaid dresses, and lots of coziness!

We decided to incorporate woodland elements into their custom watercolor invitation suite. I used deer, squirrels, berries and toadstools in a subtle way, carefully placing them into the border design. They had a rich gemstone color palette, and I love how the simple emerald green envelope liner pulled in that classic elegance to balance out the whimsy of the suite design. We carried those graphic elements into the rest of their paper story, including the menu, seating chart, cocktail sign, and other paper goods sprinkled throughout the ceremony + reception.

It was such a treat to be part of this wedding! It reminded me that even though December in Los Angeles isn’t cold + snowy, it doesn’t mean you can’t capture that magical winter feel.
