Today I’ve got a very special nautical watercolor crest Connecticut wedding to share! Mallory + Wes were wed at the newly-renovated Tokeneke Club in Darien, CT and had an incredibly fun + personal wedding paper story! Though they had nautical notes throughout, they kept the color palette soft + romantic. So many of my couples hesitate to say “nautical” when describing their vision for their wedding because they don’t want that typical red-and-blue-with-stripes-and-anchors look they’ve seen over + over again. Mallory’s wedding is a great example of how you can embrace beachy vibes without going overboard (pun intended!). Amy Champagne Events deserves much of the credit, since she designed the look of the entire celebration, including amazing florals from Carrie Wilcox Floral Design. We started with a custom watercolor wedding crest from my girl at Lemontree Calligraphy. (For more of her amazing work, check out Catherine + Michael’s Museum Garden Wedding blog post!) We had it ready for save the dates, so I was able to pull elements from it to create a design that set the nautical + elegant tone for the wedding, while saving the unveiling of their full crest for the invitations. My favorite element has to be the diver! For their invitations, we kept it classic with the custom crest paired with gold foil. We printed on thick white felt stock, and used pieces from the crest on the suite insert cards.Mallory + Wes had very specific ideas of what they envisioned for their day-of paper. As die-hard baseball fans, they wanted to incorporate fun details to celebrate this important part of their relationship. This included baseballs to hold the table numbers, escort cards I designed to look like vintage game tickets, and instead of programs, baseball cards for each member of the wedding party (complete with each person’s stats on the back!). Guests were floored by the playfulness + personalization that they put into these. Mallory + Wes, I absolutely loved working with you on your beautiful wedding and getting to know you better.
