Eliza + Danny’s Spring Smith Farm Gardens Wedding in East Haddam, Connecticut was nothing short of spectacular! Eliza was a “yes” bride, loving all my ideas, and prioritizing stationery as an incredibly important element in her wedding. What more can a stationery designer ask for in a client?
It all started with a custom toile pattern I created, which was the focal point of the save the date, along with a watercolor gingham envelope liner for that touch of whimsy. Incorporating much of the natural elements that inspired the wedding into the toile—birds, butterflies + flowers—became the jumping off point for the whole wedding paper story.
Their wedding invitation suite is one of my favorites ever. The invitation itself was simple + lovely, but the details were delicate + extraordinarily special. We blind-embossed the toile pattern on the paper belly band and topped it with a butterfly wax seal. We incorporated a watercolor illustration of Smith Farm Gardens in the spring for a splash of color, then finished it off with a vintage postage story + custom calligraphy by BL Calligraphy. The postage celebrated the colors of their wedding, as well as the flora + fauna of springtime.

Smith Farm Gardens spring weddings are so special because of the abundance of flowers in the garden! We celebrated that natural element with a wedding ceremony full of floral details! We created square-shaped programs with our butterfly detail, finished off with pastel yellow silk ribbon. It’s the little elements—especially those that create texture—that truly show guests how much love was put into your day.
The floral element was carried through to the reception with a flower bud escort card display that was so bright + joyful. It had such an effortless feel, but there were a lot of details determining bud size, card shape, overall layout, and more. Execution is what separates good weddings from luxe weddings. We incorporated the toile pattern into paper goods throughout the Smith Farm Gardens reception tent, complementing all the greenery + lovely linens, all curated by the fabulous Wildflower Events + Design team! The toile was a great celebration of spring in Connecticut.
Eliza + Danny, thank you for giving me your creativity, trust, and love story which allowed me to create one of my favorite paper stories to date!
