Florence + Anna | Boho Joshua Tree Desert Wedding

Truth? Florence + Anna’s boho Joshua Tree wedding at Rimrock Ranch is not my typical style. Sweet couple – very Roseville, artsy + fun – up my alley, for sure. See, I love a boho vibe, but black + white is not my preferred color palette for a wedding paper story. But color was not absent from their day! I knew it would make its appearance as I collaborated with Holly from Anything But Gray Events.

Much of the look + feel came from the venue itself. A desert may seem simple, but it has a lot of character which can be infused into a wedding. Pair that with Anna + Florence’s love for tacos + churros, geometric shapes + gold tones, and you’ve got a pretty awesome celebration.

Their wedding paper story began with some amazing illustrations by Florence, the bride herself. Anna encouraged her to incorporate her designs into their paper, and I’m so glad she did! They were full of whimsy and naturally added so many personal touches. Designing with them was lots of fun

So back to color. I knew Holly would be using oranges + blues in their reception, particularly in the glassware and other rentals, and I believe that black + white really pops when it’s mixed in some way with color. But color doesn’t just have to be on the printed cards. We instead used the two lovely hues for their mailing envelope + RSVP envelope. It was unexpected and just joyful. A colored envelope is an instant smile maker for your guests, and in turn Florence + Anna got to see that pop of blue in their mailbox every time an RSVP arrived. Really stands out from all the daily junk mail, don’t you think?

Working with Anna + Florence was a gift in and of itself, but the bonus was having their beautiful wedding featured in Dancing with Her Magazine! It was such a beautiful day and I’m so honored I got to play a role in it.
