Kerry + Will | American Yacht Club Watercolor Crest Wedding

Weddings

Kerry + Will’s watercolor crest wedding at American Yacht Club was the epitome of nautical elegance! Pairing black tie style with notes of navy, anchors + romantic florals set the stage for an unforgettable night!

Kerry + Will were one of my COVID postponement couples, and having a crest served us well for save the dates, change the dates, invitations + day-of stationery. When a watercolor crest has little details and thoughtful elements, you can have a lot of fun with all the paper goods! No need to just slap the crest on top of everything.

We used lots of soft blues to play into that shoreline feel, but balanced it with rich navy for the black tie look. We used gold foil on the invite and a monogrammed gold wax seal on the back flap of the envelope. Classic stationery style! Their watercolor map was featured in the suite, then reprinted for guests and put in the welcome bag.

TIP: Don’t expect guests to bring any details card with them to the wedding, as too much time has passed! Always reiterate important info including locations, shuttles and event details the weekend of your wedding.

Lots of hydrangea were used (always in abundance in Connecticut in the summer!), and they paired perfectly with the bridesmaid dresses. Their bridal party was big, but it sure was beautiful!

Kerry + Will had a gorgeous ceremony exit with guests waving ribbon banners as they headed into a classic car to take them to American Yacht Club.

Amy Champagne Events and I worked closely to keep this elegant nautical look throughout their reception space. Guests were first greeted by a fun display of escort cards with deckled edges and wax seals directing them to their table. They were attached to a Mystic Knotwork nautical knot keychain which served as the favor. Isn’t it nice to think that every time your friends + family grab their keys they think of you?

TIP: Wax seals with table number assignments is a great way to buy yourself some extra time to finalize your seating chart. That way you can get the escort cards ordered, wax seals ordered, then assemble them once everything arrives!

Their yacht club tent decor was elegant and full of those fresh + formal blue tones. The hydrangea arrangements hung from the lanterns along with twinkle lights, and were placed into porcelain pattern blue vases on the tables along with white roses.

Amy had our custom initial design embroidered onto napkins, and inside were menus on navy stock with white ink. Knowing all the soft elements on the table, including the white plate and gray charger, a dash of that rich blue really made the whole tablescape pop. And of course we had a nod to the watercolor crest with the table numbers.

Kerry + Will, it was a long, wild ride, but I’m so glad I could be there for you every step of the way. Your wedding was a gorgeous day that I won’t soon forget!
