Modern LA Retro Wedding Shoot | Featured on Green Wedding Shoes

Features

Yipee! It is such a treat to see our modern retro wedding styled shoot featured on Green Wedding Shoes! Working with Holly from Anything But Gray Events is always so creative + fun, and her vision for this 70’s disco-turned-modern wedding photo shoot was no exception. She really wanted to celebrate the bright color, disco balls, and funky music of the 70’s and not do another shoot of boho inspiration. (I love boho, don’t get me wrong, but there is a lot of content out there in this category!) The starting point was an amazing color palette of bright red, orange, yellow and silver (disco balls forever!).

For the modern retro wedding invitation + paper story, I went bold relying on color to create lots of energy. If you’re invited to a wedding like this, you need an invitation that tells guests they are going to an epic party! I used a funky yet modern font, and brought in some texture + glam with a disco ball-inspired envelope liner. Tip: envelope liners don’t need to just be made of paper! Holly had these fun disco ball stickers but didn’t know where to incorporate them: enter the menus! It brought that disco ball detail into the paper goods on the table, and a bit of dimension as well.

And how amazing are the bright florals from Flowers by Ladybuggs? She went with a monochromatic look, highlighting the individual colors as opposed to mixing them together. They made such statement on the table and in the bridal bouquet.

The retro bridal style was perfectly executed with her headband and cape, that look of a 70’s queen amongst the bright space, particularly the lounge area full of fun pieces from La Piñata Party Rentals! The cake was possibly the most creative one I had ever seen! The actual disco ball incorporated into the tiers was stellar, but it also rotated when turned on. Sugar Studios LA always delivers on creativity.
